PENANG: Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) recently marked a significant milestone in its industry engagement efforts by hosting the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Malaysia (CILTM) Penang Section Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026.

The event marked the first time the professional body’s annual assembly was conducted on the HCUC campus, underscoring the institution’s growing role in supporting industry collaboration.

The meeting was attended by key national and regional representatives, including CILT Malaysia Secretary General Log. Ts. Dr. Mohd Nasir Alias, FCILT, who expressed his appreciation for the smooth arrangements and strong participation from members.

The CILT Penang Section management committee presides over the meeting, which proceeded smoothly through its constitutional agenda.

CILT Penang Section Chairman Dato’ Log. Ts. Dr. Chang Kah Loon, FCILT, delivered an address highlighting the institute’s long-standing history and professional values. He noted that CILT has existed for over 107 years and was granted a Royal Charter within seven years of its formation.

“We must uphold our professionalism at all times. The section focuses on ‘pulling’ members through the promotion of logistics education and training, rather than merely increasing membership numbers.

“This approach ensures that chartered logisticians meet rigorous professional standards,” he said.

During the AGM, Dato’ Dr. Chang presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Dean of the School of Business and Management (SOBM), Dr. Ting Mao Seng, in recognition of HCUC’s support as venue host and sponsor for the 2026 assembly.

Meanwhile, HCUC Programme Manager and CILT member Lim Wooi Chin expressed pride in the university college’s growing recognition within the professional community.

“Having HCUC selected to host such a significant event for the CILT Penang Section is a proud moment for all of us.

“It validates our standing as an accredited institution and strengthens the link between our academic programmes and the logistics industry,” he said.
