PENANG: Students from Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) undergoing logistics internships in Penang have received positive feedback from industry supervisors, following recent monitoring visits by their programme manager.

HCUC Programme Manager for Logistics Management, Lim Wooi Chin, carried out industrial visits to several host companies, including Celestica, Visco Technology and Curio Pack, to assess student performance and engagement in real workplace environments.

During his industrial visit to Curio Pack (Penang) Sdn Bhd, Lim Wooi Chin (center) discussed the progress of intern Darrian Justin Emuang (right), who has been assisting supervisor Farah (left) with shipping invoice data entry and shipping declarations.

During the visits, supervisors reportedly described the interns as “quick learners” who consistently meet industry expectations, reflecting positively on their readiness for logistics and supply chain roles.

“While the students have shown strong technical foundations, they should now focus on refining their official business email writing to further excel in corporate environments,” Lim said, highlighting an area for further professional development.

Lim Wooi Chin met with intern Ooh Rui Yee at Visco Technology Sdn Bhd. Yee, who was commended by her supervisor for being a “quick learner”, particularly in her role in checking incoming materials against digital system records.

At Celestica, student Lim Vooi Zunn, attached to the supply chain management (SCM) division, was involved in system operations, where precision in processing material jobs was essential to ensure smooth workflow execution.

At Visco Technology, intern Ooh Rui Yee was assigned to inventory management tasks, including verifying incoming materials against digital records to ensure accuracy within the Material Management Department.

Meanwhile, at Curio Pack, Darrian Justin Emuang gained practical exposure in logistics documentation, assisting in the entry of shipping invoice data and preparation of shipping declarations, key components of daily operational processes.

“These placements show how our students are transitioning effectively from academic learning to real industry responsibilities,” Lim added.

HCUC said the internship programme is part of its ongoing effort to strengthen industry collaboration and ensure graduates are equipped with practical skills required by the global logistics sector.
