Han Chiang Institution and Mian Zhong School are “Sister Schools”

Han Chiang Institution and Mian Zhong School, Indonesia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to exchange educational related experiences and strengthen the communication and learning of students and teachers.

With the signing of the MoU, Mian Zhong School and Han Chiang Institution have become “Sister Schools”. Han Chiang Institution comprises Han Chiang Primary School, Han Chiang High School and Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC).

In the MoU both schools also agree to regularly hold or co-organize sharing of teaching, student exchange program and co-curricular activities so as to strengthen the communication and learning of students and teachers from both institutions. 

The MoU was signed by Han Chiang Board of Directors Chairman Dato’ Seri Ooi Soo Hing, Han Chiang University College of Communication Vice Chancellor Dr Beh Kok Hooi, Han Chiang High School principal Ms Kung Bee Lee, Han Chiang Primary School headmistress Ms Lee Hong Choo, Mian Zhong School Chairman Mr Sukardi Tandijono and Head of Principal of Mian Zhong School, Madam Chen Weiyu. 

The historic occasion held at HCUC Auditorium was witnessed by Han Chiang Board of Directors Executive Advisor Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Tan Kok Ping and President of Perhimpunan Masyarakat Indonesia Tionghoa Sumatera Utara & Medan Institution, Mr Fadjar Suhendra. He was accompanied by Mr Chuang Kong Ching (President of Han Chiang Alumni Indonesia) and Mr Chen Se Chi (President of Medan Mian Zhong Alumni Indonesia).

Also present were officials and teachers from Mian Zhong School and the Han Chiang Institutions. 

The collaboration is aimed at promoting the educational development, cultivating friendships, and developing strategies to accomplish visions and to instil a stable long term partnership. 

In his speech, Han Chiang Board of Directors Chairman Dato’ Seri Ooi Soo Hing paid tribute to Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Tan Kok Ping for taking the lead to promote the growth of Han Chiang three educational institutions. 

Mr. Fadjar Suhendra thanked Han Chiang for the long and continuous partnership with Mian Zhong School.

He said the trip to Penang was also to show appreciation to Penang, especially Han Chiang Institution because over the years, many students from Indonesia, especially Medan, had come to Penang, especially Han Chiang, to study. 

The Deputy President of Chongwen Middle School Mr Heryanto presented a RM10,000 cheque to Dato’ Seri Ooi Soo Hing, witnessed by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Tan Kok Ping, Mr Fadjar Suhendra and Mr Sukardi Tandijono. 

After the ceremony, the guests toured HCUC campus including visits to the HCTV Studio and the Creative Media Centre to better understand the facilities available.
